The Novi Sad in Serbia recommended for the title of European Capital of Culture 2021 by the independent expert jury that met in Brussels on 13 October 2016.
Mr Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport underlined the significance of opening this programme also for the cities from countries adhering to EU, declaring that this represents a “way to approach and reinforce the cultural connection with the European Union.”
Novi Sad (Serbia) will be the European Capital of Culture in 2021, together with Timişoara (Romania) and one city from Greece (Elefsina, Kalamata or Rhodes), that will be recommended for this title in November 2016.
